- Fall 2007
Although the summer weather seems
to be holding out for us, the signs of autumn are visibly
upon us. The leaves are turning colour, the nights are
cooler and here at Geo-Teck we have been concentrating
on the annual inventory count and our year-end, Sept.
30th. We, like so many of our customers, are thinking
about the fast approaching winter, which means servicing
that furnace and getting our homes ready for the blustery
cold Canadian winters.
It’s been an exciting summer
for the Geo-Teck family. We’ve welcomed some new
members and said good-bye to a couple too. On the welcome
list, we have James Debus of Zurich. James was a co-op
student from St. Anne’s School in Clinton. He
approached us in hopes of securing an electrical apprenticeship.
We have confidence James will be an asset to the team
and wish him luck with his program.
Chris Pettigrew, another new face!
Chris is hoping to apprentice as a Sheet Metal Worker.
He comes to us from Forest. From Listowel is Gord Kechnie
another Sheet Metal Worker for the team, and last but
not least, Raquel Alexander who is assisting our office
staff.
It was bittersweet to have to say
goodbye to long-standing employee Jim Drake. Jim retired
from Geo-Teck after 9 years and not only did he work
hard, he provided instruction and guidance to many apprentices
over the years. A retirement celebration was held in
Jim’s honour at the home of Greg and Sharon Vanhevel,
and all the staff were on hand to enjoy the evening
festivities and wish Jim a fond farewell. Jim and his
lovely wife received a gift certificate towards their
upcoming cruise in appreciation for his dedication,
and for the fact that Jim has agreed to help out a couple
of days per week to make it an easier transition for
all. Thanks Jim!!!!
Exciting news is that Bryan &
Diane Durand are expecting, Darren Pratt & his fiancé
Liz are engaged to be married, and the new bride and
groom Rob Brecken and Felicia were married in October.
Congratulations to all!!!!!!!!!!!
It was wonderful to see all the people
who joined us for another Geo-Teck Open House in July.
The winner of our free BBQ draw was Agnes Voyer of Grand
Cove. Congrats Agnes! Everyone enjoyed the day with
lots of product specials and free food…despite
the rain. The big highlight was the drilling demonstration
put on for the benefit of interested clients who are
taking advantage of the government incentives towards
the purchase of ground source heating/cooling systems.
For everyone that attended our Open House we hope you
enjoyed the day and once again we thank you for your
patronage. We hope to see you again next year!
Our Geo-Teck family enjoyed
another end of summer excursion…this time to Niagara
Falls! Thirty-eight Geo-Teck employees and their partners
boarded an early morning bus heading for Niagara for
a fun filled day to do whatever you wished and at day’s
end we all gathered together at the top of the Minolta
Tower for a scrumptious complimentary dinner before
loading back on the bus for the leisurely drive home.
Lots of laughs and merriment abounded!
